Content marketing is a big deal; thousands of businesses worldwide are resorting to content marketing specialists to help them to create top, high-quality content to be published on their websites.

Content marketing possesses endless benefits, including helping your site to rank more highly in search engine results pages and attracting more unique visitors to your site. Whether you choose to outsource content curation, create content yourself or hire an in-house writer, it is still essential to create content on a regular basis and publish it on your site. It’s also critical that this content is very well written, is appealing to your target audience and brings something unique and interesting to the table.

So how often should you publish new content on your website?

The correct answer really depends on the type of business you operate. For instance, if you are a news or information portal that features thousands (or even millions) of new visitors a day, it’s important to publish new content on a daily basis, from at least once to even nine or ten times per day (or more). This really depends on the size of your website, the amount of visitors you have and the type of content you offer.

For example, the BBC news website needs fresh content almost hourly. In particular, breaking news stories need to be published almost as soon as they are discovered, otherwise you run the risk of losing readers, who will resort to alternative websites if they cannot find the information they are looking for.

Alternatively, if you are a business with a steady stream of clients offering specific services or products, there is no need to publish quite as often (although of course, there is no harm in doing so).

Freshly published content offers a great reason for search engines to crawl and index your website, but this also gives visitors a great reason to revisit your website. This combination of factors gives your website heightened exposure, and boosts the chances of increasing social media mentions, improving consumer loyalty and gaining more organic links leading back to your site.

Publishing Content on a Regular Basis

As with any content marketing strategy, it’s essential that you publish on a regular and expected basis. This ensures that readers anticipate when you are going to post. To achieve this, always have a stock of at least five articles ahead of schedule, ready to be published. This ensures that you never miss any important targets.
