2014 saw Google dominate the search engine stratosphere, but predictions for 2015 are a little different. Aside from Google no longer being the dominant player, there are plenty of other SEO changes set to happen in 2015. Read on to learn more about what search engine optimisation predictions we are making for the rest of 2015 here at 8 Ways Media…

Everyone is Going Mobile

Traditionally, most people used a computer or laptop to search the internet, but today, computers are being used far less as most people are using their mobile phones to search the internet. For this reason it is critical that you make sure your website is fully responsive, with a responsive web design that is compatible across all mobile devices (including smartphones, iPads, tablets, iPhones and iPods).

It is very easy to optimise your website for mobile use. The Google developer page will guide you on how to maximise the potential of your content and fully optimise it for mobile use. They will also perform an assessment on your site and will show you what you need to do to improve the overall user experience on a portable device.

Search is Not Just Google Based

Last year, Google owned some 80% of the search share, so optimising your website for Google only was not the most common and acceptable option. However in 2015, more and more users are resorting to other search engines such as Bing and Yahoo, so be sure to get your Bing webmaster tools set up and don’t forget about the small searches either.

Keywords are Still Important

Although the days of keyword stuffing are long gone, it is still important to optimise your website pages around a central theme or keyword. Keywords should still appear in important places such as the title, the page’s URL, the heading, in any image’s alt text and throughout the page’s copy. That being said, it has never been more critical to insert keywords into your copy as naturally as possible.

User Design Experience a Critical Component

Another search engine optimisation change we’re predicting at 8 Ways Media is that user experience design will be more important than ever. Web design strategies such as parallax scrolling are becoming increasingly popular as businesses seek a unique way to maintain audience interest. Google is also placing a heavy emphasis on user experience, meaning that your site should be easy to navigate, users should be easily able to find what they are looking for and of course, your site should be mobile friendly.
