Successful content writing is about two things: getting the right words on the page and ensuring those words have the power to sell. It’s easy to write words, but it’s not so easy to write the right words that will engage with readers and encourage them to take action.

Making your words count is essential in boosting conversions and selling products. Read on for our top tips on how to write copy that sells:

1.       Concentrate on Titles

Once you’ve written your copy, only then should you concentrate on your title. Spend plenty of time crafting your title. Ask yourself questions about who you’re trying to appeal to. What’s going to bring readers to your copy, and what’s going to entice them to click on your title and read on? Would you read the title if you came across it?

2.       Use Data

Incorporating some data into your headlines is a great way to inspire readers to click through to learn more. A blog post or article that features information backed up with data is more likely to be perceived as reliable and trustworthy, which in turn, encourages people to check out your products and services to learn more.

3.       Be Different

Aim to inspire, shock and surprise your readers. No, you don’t want to be too controversial or generate a negative response, but you do want to write high-quality content that inspires people to comment and share. Being different is absolutely vital amongst such a heavy sea of competition.

4.       Be Awareness Savvy

There are different types of ‘awareness’ that people experience during the sales process. These are:

·         Solution aware

Solution aware readers think primarily of the solution, not the problem. So if you can offer them a clear high-level benefit to their problem, you’ve more than likely got a sale.

·         Brand/product aware

These sorts of readers want to discover the top benefits of your products or services before learning about the rest of your benefits.

·         Problem aware

Problem aware people understand they have a problem but do not know how to solve that problem.

5.       List in Odd Numbers

‘Top X’ lists still work, although only if they bring value to readers. Also, odd numbers have been proven to be more successful than even numbers (which is why our list comes to a close here).
