Your logo is your message to the world about who you are as a business and what type of business you are operating. A logo can give off countless messages to individuals. It can tell them that your business is enthusiastic, that it’s cool and laid back, that it’s spiritual or that it’s powerful. Your logo design has a massive impact on your audience and can quickly create an opinion in their minds about your brand.

Listed below you will find 3 factors that influence your logo and our top tips on how to create the most memorable logo imaginable:

1.       Colour

Here on the 8 Ways Media blog we’ve already talked about how the colour of your web design can quickly influence audiences and trigger a specific psychological association. Since colour is so important for your web design, it makes sense that colour is also of great importance for your logo.

Before selecting the colour of your logo you first need to establish the type of message you wish to send to your target market. Below are the typical associations people make with certain colours (see here for more colours)

·         Blue: Security, responsibility, dependability and trustworthiness

·         Red: Excitement, passion, energy and courage

·         Yellow: Cheerfulness, energy, spontaneity and intelligence

·         Purple: Mystery, nobility, spirituality and wisdom

·         Green: Health, wealth, serenity and freshness

·         Orange: Enthusiasm, strength, happiness and fascination

·         Brown: Natural, earthy, simple and durable

·         Black: Glamour, exclusivity, power and sophistication

What type of message are you trying to give to current and potential clients? Use the colour that you want to associate your brand with. You can combine colours but it’s recommended to stick to between one and three colours at the most.

2.       Font

We’ve also talked about font type before at 8 Ways Media with regards to its role in your logo and web design. Again, font type sends a very important message to your audience and tells them what type of brand you are, so be very careful with your choice of font.

If you want to come across as a feminine, graceful, welcoming and artistic brand, opt for a Script font. If you wish to come across as a dependable, conventional and reputable brand, choose a Serif font. Alternatively, if you wish to be perceived as a current, hip, bold and sturdy brand, go for a Slab Serif font.

3.       Graphics

Finally, ensure that your logo is easy to read across every device and in every size, as people are viewing your website from tablets, smartphones and even smartwatches. For this reason, it needs to be simple, easy on the eye, timeless, scalable and memorable.
