2016 is officially here which means one thing for businesses – it’s time to move forward and set new business goals for the year ahead. January is the time to wipe the slate clean and set yourself and your business up for success. Listed below are 4 steps that you can take right now to meet your 2016 sales and business goals…

1. Review the Past Year

The turn of the New Year is a time for reflection. How did you do in 2015? Did you meet all of your business goals? Perhaps you were lucky enough to exceed them? Where did you go wrong? Reflecting on the past year is a great way to establish where you made mistakes and how you can rectify those mistakes in 2016. What could you have done differently to turn a lead into a sale? What did you do right that enabled your business to reach new heights? Acknowledging these mistakes – and accuracies, is a fantastic way to see what works for your business, and what doesn’t.

2. Set Tangible Goals

January is the perfect time to set goals for the year ahead. Set both short and long-term goals and make sure you take steps throughout the year to work towards and achieve those goals. Be sure to write down all of the goals you hope to achieve for2016 so that they are never far from sight, and set realistic time frames so that all goals are realistically achievable.

3. Review your Leads

It’s possible that you’ve generated a sizeable amount of leads over the years, but how many of those leads will actually convert into paying customers in 2016? It’s possible that many of your perceived sales leads are in fact no longer eligible as leads, and as such there’s never a better time to review and assess your leads and your CRM to ensure that you remove any leads that do not quite fit your services. Perhaps their budget is not aligned with your prices, or their engagement levels are a little low. Leads don’t magically convert, and for this reason it’s essential to nurture the right leads and remove those that aren’t going to close.

4. Ask for Customer Referrals

By this point the chances are high that you have generated some very happy customers. These individuals are the perfect ambassadors for your brand and can help you to further promote your services to a wider target market via a customer referral. Get any written referrals published on your website and social media pages, and also include them within your email marketing campaigns. Treat referred customers with absolute care and deliver a consistently outstanding service across your client base to ensure that referrals are a common part of your business.

As you can see, there are plenty of things you can do right now to set and meet your business goals for 2016. What are you waiting for?
